Sequence challenges pattern recognition with arithmetic progressions, changing step sizes, multiplication and alternating rules. Choose the next number using the intended rule.
Sequence can appear as one of the rotating Daily games. “Try first” lets you practise with different sequences. Practice does not change your points, XP or streak.
Start by comparing neighbouring terms. A constant difference suggests addition or subtraction; a constant ratio suggests multiplication or division. If neither works, inspect whether the changes follow their own pattern or whether odd and even positions behave differently.
In 2, 5, 9, 14, 20, the differences are +3, +4, +5 and +6. Continuing that rule adds 7 and gives 27. Checking only the first gap would suggest an incorrect fixed step of 3. A candidate rule should explain all the displayed transitions.
A finite list can be extended by more than one mathematical rule. BrainiLab puzzles aim for an intended simple pattern among the offered choices, not a proof that no other imaginable continuation exists. If two choices fit equally natural rules, report the sequence and both explanations. Read the revealed rule after a round before moving to the next one.
