Questions and explanations
Place an event in context before guessing a date
History questions can ask about a person, a period, a place or a sequence of events. These are different tasks. Start by identifying which one the question asks for. A familiar person may belong to the right era but the wrong country. When you are unsure of an exact year, a broader timeline can help you eliminate an impossible answer.
Worked example: putting years in order
Suppose a practice question gives 1789, 1815 and 1914. In this CE sequence, the earliest year is 1789 and the latest is 1914. That shortcut changes when a question uses BCE dates: 500 BCE comes before 100 BCE. Check the era label instead of always assuming the smaller number happened first.
Make the next run more useful
After a round, connect each answer to something you already know: what happened earlier, what came later and where it took place. Avoid treating a short quiz explanation as a complete account of a complex event. If wording seems ambiguous, send the question and the reason through Suggestions so it can be investigated. A well-supported correction is more useful than simply reporting a low score.
This guide uses separate teaching examples. Report a question or suggest a correction with the game name and the wording you saw.
